TWO TOWNS TRAIL

The Two Towns Trail is an 8 kilometre track linking Warragul and Drouin, officially opened by the Premier John Brumby on the 15 June 2009.

VicRoads provided $1.5 million to the Baw Baw Shire Council to manage the project.

The trail is the largest physical activity track in the Baw Baw Shire providing a 3 metre wide concrete pathway with boardwalks linking the Shire’s two major towns and providing recreational opportunity for the whole community.


 





LATROBE REGIONAL AIRPORT 

Works at the Latrobe Regional Airport included taxiway extensions, the construction of emergency assembly areas and general access roads to the airport industrial area.

Completed in February 2009 works were valued at approximately $.75 million.





MASON STREET CAR PARK, WARRAGUL

Completed in May 2009 this job was Design and Construct and now provides an additional 98 parking bays in the ever-growing Warragul CBD.

With clever design modifications, several old elm trees were able to be retained,   enhancing the beauty of the car park and new street lighting was incorporated with the works


 





CARPARK, BOARD WALKS & PICNIC AREA AT ADA TREE

The Department of Sustainability & Environment (DSE) in conjunction with the Baw Baw Shire Council commissioned Sure Constructions to undertake improvement works on the car park/picnic area and to construct new board walks at the Ada Tree, Bunyip State Forrest, a popular tourist attraction in the Shire.

The works were carried out in an environmentally sensitive area and completed in August 2008. Cost : $189,000



 





DROUIN TOWNSCAPE

Baw Baw Shire awarded Stages 1 – 6 of the Drouin CBD Townscape to SURE Constructions. Works involved underground drainage, paving and beautification works, landscaping and allowance for future underground power for the growing CBD of Drouin.

The project was mostly completed overnight so as to have a minimal impact on traders and business during the day.

 


 





HEADS ROAD, CATANI ROAD REHABILITATION

Road rehabilitation at Heads Road Catani involved profiling of the existing road pavement plus the addition of crushed rock with widening slots installed, followed by cement stabilisation for a distance of approximately 4 kilometres.

This upgraded a narrow 3.5 metre road to a 7.0 metre wide and much safer roadway.

Works were completed on behalf of Cardinia Shire Council.


 





NORTHFIELDS SUBDIVISION & WETLANDS, TRARALGON

The project was unique in liaising between local developers, a local school, Latrobe City Council, Gippsland Water and other authorities.

This job required high level Project Management to bring the whole job in on budget and to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Completed March 2008.


 





NOBELIUS HERITAGE PARK, DRAINAGE TREATMENT

The existing drainage in the Nobelius Heritage Park was eroding open channels, causing flooding and the outfall was discharging into Emerald Lake Park, then on to Melbourne Water’s reservoir.

Nobelius Heritage Park Water Sensitive Urban Design Drainage Works was a pilot project completed for Cardinia Shire Council. These innovative works were funded by Melbourne Water.

The end result was a series of swales, raingardens and rock chutes installed to improve storm water quality and prevent soil erosion as well as enhancing the natural environment.
